Notes:

The last time I saw Kevin was during his 2017 Summer Coasts tour after the release of Instigator. I was excited to finally see him backed by a full band. Chop Suey’s website said doors and the show started at 7:00 with no opening act listed which seemed like an error. Just in case I showed up early.

Proof of vaccination was required to enter due to COVID-19. Kayleigh Goldsworthy opened. Kississippi was supposed to open, but cancelled due to testing positive for COVID-19. Kevin and the Goddamn Band took the stage just after 21:00 and nearly played a two hour set. The tour was in support of his latest album, Nothings Real, So Nothings Wrong and it was played in its entirety split up by fan favorites.

I’m a casual Kevin fan. Attending this show was like stumbling into someone else’s family reunion. People seemed to know each other and Kevin shared stories stories of previous shows in Seattle. The crowd was attentive keeping the chatting to a minimal. This made for a very clean recording.

As the set winds down, the band really enters a groove. During Cotton Crush Kevin takes a step back and lets the audience fill in the lyrics. Brother’s Blood is extremely tight. During the encore, Kevin takes the stage alone and performs “Ballgame”. An excellent note to end the evening on.
